The area that includes the Spinney
is listed at Grade II in English Heritage’s Register of Parks and Gardens
of Special Historic Interest.
Historical features within
the Spinney include wood banks that now mark the boundary between Daventry
District Council and Northampton Borough Council.
These provide an insight into the history of the landscape and
will be protected from damage or removal.
An
archaeological cropmark interpreted as of prehistoric origin is located 50
metres to the west of the Spinney’s eastern boundary.
While this falls outside the area of the Pocket Park, this feature
can also be noted as of historical interest.
