The Spinney straddles the boundary of Daventry District Council and Northampton Borough Council.  There are arable fields to the east and the land used by the Obelisk Club for sports activities and a private house to the west.  The village of Boughton is at the northern boundary of the Spinney, and the Obelisk Rise estate at the southern end.

There are two official footpath Rights of Ways bordering the east and west edges of the site, both running north/south.  The Spinney is currently accessed via a number of  “trodden” paths (as opposed to any official footpath) that are often too overgrown and muddy to pass.  One of our first aims is to improve the quality of these paths.
